Breachpop

Tamped & Shaped Breaching Charges

BreachPop is a family of tamped, shaped charge containers that concentrate energy on locks, latches and hinges while helping to reduce the net explosive weight (N.E.W.) required to defeat a target and lower overpressure compared with conventional, untamped charges. Each model incorporates a water‑polymer gel tamper, because it’s water‑based, it further moderates overpressure beyond the reduction gained by lowering the N.E.W. alone.

Why Teams Choose BreachPop
  • Control & consistency: Fixed, shaped geometry and integrated water tamper promote repeatable effects at the breach point.
  • Reduced N.E.W.: The design enables a lower charge mass to achieve the required effect, supporting safe‑system‑of‑work principles.
  • Overpressure discipline: The water‑based tamper helps reduce room overpressure compared with untamped charges of equivalent effect.
  • Flexible fills: Supports common detonating‑cord ratings; selected models also accept sheet explosive.
Model Range & Fill Compatibility

Breachpop #1

  • Channels: 1
  • Detonating-cord compatibility*:  One line of 25/50/100‑grain per foot det‑cord (≈ 5.3/10.6/21.3 g/m)
  • Sheet-explosive compatibility: 13 mm‑wide sheet explosive

Breachpop #2

  • Channels: 2
  • Detonating-cord compatibility*: Two lines of 25/50/100‑grain per foot det‑cord (≈ 5.3/10.6/21.3 g/m)

Breachpop #3

  • Channels: 3
  • Detonating-cord compatibility*: Three lines of 25/50/100‑grain per foot det‑cord (≈ 5.3/10.6/21.3 g/m)
  • Sheet-explosive compatibility:  19 mm‑wide sheet explosive

* Detonating‑cord “grain” values are grains per foot; metric conversions are shown as grams per metre.

How It Works

A shaped front face and integral water‑polymer gel tamper direct detonation products into the target hardware. By controlling geometry and adding a water‑based tamper, BreachPop can achieve effect with less explosive and moderate overpressure, supporting operator survivability and reducing collateral impact where structures may be occupied.

Typical Use Cases
  • Single‑point defeats (latches/locks/hasps) — #1
  • Wider latch sets or multi‑point hardware — #2
  • Heavy or stubborn frames where maximum linear effect from one placement is desired — #3

FAQs

What det‑cord ratings fit?

25, 50 or 100‑grain per foot (≈ 5.3, 10.6, 21.3 g/m) depending on model and number of channels.

Do any models accept sheet explosive?

#1 supports 13 mm sheet; #3 supports 19 mm sheet; #2 is det‑cord only.
