Decon Mitt

DCON Mitt™

A purpose‑built microfibre mitt with a protective barrier laminate that shields the wearer’s gloved hands while lifting and holding contaminants. Use dry or slightly moistened with water to wipe down skin (non‑mucosal), PPE, weapons and sensitive equipment like electronics and optics.

Key features

  • Barrier‑backed safety: internal laminate helps prevent contaminant transfer to the user’s gloves during wipe‑down.
  • High absorption & particle pickup: split microfibre absorbs ~7–8× its weight and conforms to cracks and crevices for effective physical removal.
  • Reduces re‑suspension: microfibre’s charge helps entrap small solids to limit cross‑contamination and airborne re‑suspension.
  • Skin‑safe and non‑reactive: suitable for skin, IPE/PPE, weapons, electronics and optics when used as directed.
  • Field‑proven: microfiber wipe‑down has been evaluated by US Army CCDC‑CBC and the UK DSTL for immediate decontamination of CW agent liquids.
  • Made in the USA: manufactured with 100% US‑made materials.

Technical specifications

  • Construction: split microfibre (polyester/polyamide) with barrier laminate backing
  • Mechanism: physical removal (dry or slightly moistened with water)
  • Absorbency: approx. 7–8× mitt weight (liquids)
  • Typical weight: < 0.45 kg (< 1 lb)
  • Use on sensitive equipment: suitable for electronics/optics
  • Readiness: TRL‑9; handheld; minimal training (< 1 hour)

Applications

  • Immediate wipe‑down of exposed skin (non‑mucosal), PPE and small tools
  • Removal of liquids/solids on weapons and hard surfaces
  • Decontaminating sensitive electronics and optics prior to further processing

Compliance & handling

Use per your agency SOPs. The mitt performs physical removal; for microbial inactivation pair with an approved liquid biocidal decontaminant. Dispose of used mitts as contaminated waste under local regulations.

What’s included

  • DCON Mitt™ (packaging/quantities as ordered)

Options & related products

  • Use alongside approved liquid biocidal decontaminants to inactivate biological pathogens after wipe‑down

Maintenance & support

Store in original packaging until use. J3Seven provides selection advice and Australia‑wide supply/support.

FAQs

Can it be used on skin?
Yes—DCON Mitt is skin‑safe and non‑reactive when used as directed (avoid mucous membranes).

Should it be used dry or wet?
Use dry or slightly moistened with water depending on the surface and contaminant.

Does it neutralise agents?
It removes contaminants physically. For biological inactivation, follow with a compatible liquid biocidal decontaminant.

Is it safe on electronics and optics?
Yes—the mitt is suitable for sensitive equipment, including electronics and optical surfaces.

Who has tested the concept?
Microfibre wipe‑down has been evaluated by US Army CCDC‑CBC and the UK DSTL for immediate decontamination of chemical‑agent liquids.
