Double-Sided Pedestrian Gamma Portal

PoliGate™ Pedestrian G2

Double-sided checks, single-file flow

The PoliGate™ Pedestrian G2 is a double-sided gamma radiation portal monitor for Australian government sites, nuclear facilities, research centres, transport hubs, and high-risk industrial plants. Two 11 L plastic scintillator detectors with lead shielding deliver high-sensitivity walk-through screening of people, luggage, and small packages at normal walking speed.

Paired with Ethernet-connected operator software as your “companion app”, PoliGate™ Pedestrian G2 supports an end-to-end workflow from commissioning and tuning through to alarm review, incident export, and auditable reporting.

Why Teams Choose PoliGate™ Pedestrian G2?
  • Better sensitivity, same footprint: Two 11 L PVT detectors, either side of the lane cut MDAs down into the low tens of kBq (¹³⁷Cs ~22–33 kBq at 5 km/h).
  • Keep queues short: 1.0 × 2.0 m and 1.5 × 2.0 m control zones at walking speed mean staff and visitors don’t have to stop in the portal.
  • Stable performance: Lead shielding and tuned thresholds help hold false-alarm rates below 1 in 1,000 passages at background <0.1 µSv/h.
  • Rugged installation: IP65 enclosure, −30 to 50 °C operation, and up to 98 % RH at 40 °C suits both indoor lobbies and sheltered outdoor entries.
  • Power-resilient design: Wide-range AC input with >8 h internal 12 V battery plus Ethernet-linked software fit naturally into existing security and control systems.
What’s in the Kit?

Two PoliGate™ Pedestrian G2 detection pillars, electronics/control cabinet with integrated 12 V backup battery, local light and sound alarm units, occupancy sensors, mains power cabling, Ethernet interface, operator workstation software licence, mounting hardware, installation guide, and user manual.

Frequently Asked Questions

What radiation does PoliGate™ Pedestrian G2 detect?

G2 is a gamma-only RPM. It detects increased gamma radiation from industrial, medical, and nuclear materials. If you need quantified neutron performance, the GN1/GN2 pedestrian models are the right fit.

How rugged is G2 for entrances with dust or weather exposure?

Each pillar is IP65-rated and designed for −30 to 50 °C operation with high humidity tolerance. That makes it suitable for indoor lobbies and sheltered external gates at plants, ports, and waste sites.

What’s the “companion app” for PoliGate™ Pedestrian G2?

The system connects over Ethernet to a Windows®-based operator workstation. The software shows live count-rates and alarms, logs all events, and supports exporting data for investigations and regulatory reporting.

What exactly do we receive when we order G2?

A standard shipment includes two detection pillars, the control cabinet with backup battery, local visual and audible alarms, occupancy sensors, power and network hardware, and the operator software licence. Frames, bollards, and CCTV integration are scoped to your site.

Compliance note: Specifications, MDAs, and standards references are based on manufacturer documentation and may change without notice. Agencies remain responsible for confirming local regulatory acceptance, site licensing, and export-control obligations before procurement, installation, or cross-border transfer.
