Four-Detector Gamma Vehicle Portal

PoliGate™ Vehicle G4

Wide-lane gamma screening

The PoliGate™ Vehicle G4 is a double-sided, gamma-only radiation portal monitor for Australian ports, borders, rail heads, and industrial gateways. Four 11 L plastic scintillator detectors with lead shielding provide high-sensitivity screening across control zones up to 6 m × 4.5 m, even with vehicles moving at up to 20 km/h.

Modular hardware (pillar height, lane width, CCTV integration, cabinet placement) and an Ethernet-connected operator workstation as your “companion app” support an end-to-end workflow from installation and tuning through to alarm review, incident export, and long-term reporting.

Why Teams Choose PoliGate™ Vehicle G4?
  • Wide-lane coverage: Four 11 L plastic scintillators in two pillars cover control zones up to 6 m × 4.5 m, ideal for high-sided trucks, rail wagons, and oversize loads.
  • High sensitivity at speed: Detects ¹³⁷Cs down to ~160 kBq at 8 km/h and ~240 kBq at 20 km/h (background <0.1 µSv/h, FAR <1/1000), keeping performance credible under scrutiny.
  • Drive-through, no-stop operation: Lanes stay open at 8–20 km/h, avoiding queues and driver pushback common with stop-and-measure setups.
  • Rugged for real lanes: IP65 pillars, −30 to 50 °C operating range and up to 98 % RH at 40 °C suit coastal ports, dusty yards, and remote crossings.
  • Resilient and integrated: Wide-range AC power with >8 h internal battery, Ethernet connectivity, and optional CCTV alignment support control-room workflows and continuity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What radiation does PoliGate™ Vehicle G4 detect?

Vehicle G4 is a gamma-only RPM. It detects elevated gamma radiation from industrial, medical, and nuclear materials; the Vehicle G4N4 model adds neutron detection where that’s a requirement.

How robust is G4 for Australian yard and port environments?

Each detector block is IP65-rated and specified from −30 to 50 °C with high humidity tolerance. Combined with lead shielding and industrial cabinet hardware, it’s built for continuous duty in exposed, dusty, or wet lanes.

What acts as the “companion app” for operators?

The system connects via Ethernet to a Windows®-based operator workstation. The software provides live count-rate and alarm views, configuration, event logging, and optional integration with CCTV and higher-level security systems.

What exactly is included with a Vehicle G4 system?

A standard delivery includes four gamma detectors in two pillars, the electronics/control cabinet with backup battery, local light and sound alarms, occupancy sensors, power and network cabling, and operator software. Site-specific frames, bollards, and video systems are added per project requirements.
