Gamma Vehicle Radiation Portal

PoliGate™ Vehicle G2

Drive-through portal performance, compact footprint

The PoliGate™ Vehicle G2 is a double-sided, gamma-only radiation portal monitor for Australian ports, borders, rail heads, and industrial gates. Two 11 L plastic scintillator detectors with lead shielding continuously screen trucks, utes, and containers as they drive through at 5–8 km/h, no stop required.

Modular hardware (lane-width options, CCTV integration, cabinet and pillar placement) and an Ethernet-connected operator workstation as your “companion app” support an end-to-end workflow from installation and tuning through to alarm review, incident export, and long-term reporting.

Why Teams Choose PoliGate™ Vehicle G2?
  • Lane-ready geometry: Double-sided layout with 3 m × 2 m and 6 m × 2 m control-zone options covers standard road lanes and container gates.
  • High sensitivity at speed: Two 11 L plastic scintillators detect ¹³⁷Cs down to ~65 kBq at 5 km/h and ~230 kBq at 8 km/h (background <0.1 µSv/h).
  • Keep vehicles moving: No-stop design at 5–8 km/h reduces congestion and driver complaints compared to stop-and-measure checkpoints.
  • Built for harsh lanes: IP65 pillars, −30 to 50 °C operation, and up to 98 % RH at 40 °C suit Australian yards, ports, and remote border crossings.
  • Power resilience & central control: Wide-range AC input, >8 h internal battery, and Ethernet-connected operator software align with existing control rooms and SCADA.
What’s in the Kit?

Two PoliGate™ Vehicle G2 gamma detection blocks, electronics/control cabinet with integrated 12 V backup battery, local light and sound alarms, infrared occupancy sensors, mains power cabling, Ethernet interface, operator workstation software licence, installation guide and user manual (project-specific mounting hardware and CCTV are optional).

Frequently Asked Questions

What radiation does PoliGate™ Vehicle G2 detect?

Vehicle G2 is a gamma-only RPM. It detects elevated gamma fields from industrial, medical, and nuclear materials; neutron detection is provided by the Vehicle G4N4 model if required.

How rugged is G2 for Australian yard and port environments?

Each detection block is IP65-rated and specified from −30 to 50 °C with high humidity tolerance, making it suitable for exposed road gates, scrap yards, ports, and industrial sites.

What’s the “companion app” for this portal?

The system connects over Ethernet to a Windows®-based operator workstation. That software provides real-time displays, configuration, event logging, and optional integration with CCTV or higher-level security systems.

What exactly comes with a Vehicle G2 system?

A standard delivery includes two gamma pillars, the electronics cabinet with backup battery, local light and sound alarms, occupancy sensors, power and network hardware, and operator software. Frames, bollards, and video systems are specified to suit each site.
