One-Sided Pedestrian Gamma–Neutron Portal

PoliGate™ Pedestrian GN1

Gamma–neutron assurance in a single walk-through

The PoliGate™ Pedestrian GN1 is a one-sided gamma–neutron radiation portal monitor for Australian government sites, nuclear facilities, research centres, transport hubs, and critical industrial plants. A 6.6 L plastic scintillator gamma detector and a ³He-free ¹⁰B/ZnS(Ag) neutron detector share a single pillar to deliver dual-radiation screening of people, bags, and small packages at normal walking speed.

Paired with Ethernet-connected operator software as your “companion app”, GN1 supports an end-to-end workflow from commissioning and tuning through to alarm review, shielded-source investigation, and defensible reporting.

Why Teams Choose PoliGate™ Pedestrian GN1?
  • True dual-radiation coverage: 6.6 L PVT gamma detector plus ¹⁰B/ZnS(Ag) neutron detector: one lane for photons, neutrons, and shielded SNM.
  • Walk-through friendly: 1.0 × 2.0 m and 1.5 × 2.0 m control zones at 5 km/h, so that staff and visitors don’t have to stop and pose.
  • Quantified SNM detection: MDAs down to ~1.4 g ²³⁹Pu and 6500 n/s ²⁵²Cf (1.0 m lane, background <0.1 µSv/h, FAR <1/1000).
  • Built for harsh entrances: IP65 design, −30 to 50 °C, and up to 98 % RH at 40 °C suit indoor lobbies and sheltered outdoor gates.
  • Power resilience & clean integration: Wide-range AC, >8 h internal 12 V backup, and Ethernet-linked operator software align with existing security and control-room infrastructure.
What’s in the Kit?

PoliGate™ Pedestrian GN1 gamma–neutron detection pillar, electronics/control cabinet with integrated 12 V backup battery, local light and sound alarms, occupancy sensors, mains power cabling, Ethernet interface, operator workstation software licence, mounting hardware, installation guide, user manual.

Frequently Asked Questions

What radiation does PoliGate™ Pedestrian GN1 detect?

GN1 detects both gamma and neutron radiation. It uses a 6.6 L plastic scintillator for gamma and a ¹⁰B/ZnS(Ag) solid-state detector for neutrons, supporting detection of industrial and medical sources as well as special nuclear material and some shielded threats.

How rugged is GN1 for real-world access points?

The pillar is IP65-rated and specified from −30 to 50 °C with high humidity tolerance, making it suitable for indoor lobbies and sheltered external entries at plants, ports, waste sites, and critical infrastructure.

What’s the “companion app” for GN1?

PoliGate™ Pedestrian GN1 connects over Ethernet to a Windows®-based operator workstation. The software shows live gamma and neutron count-rates, alarms and status, logs events, and allows exporting data for investigations and regulator-facing reports.

What’s included in a standard GN1 delivery?

You receive the combined gamma–neutron pillar, control cabinet with backup battery, local audible and visual alarms, occupancy sensors, power and network hardware, plus the operator software licence. Mounting frames and CCTV integration are sized to your site.
