Incident Response Sampling Kit
Incident Response Sampling Kit (IRK)
Incident Response Sampling Kit (IRK)
When a hazardous materials incident escalates from “detect” to “document”, responders need a sampling solution that supports speed, safety, and evidentiary integrity. The IRK 2.0 is designed for emergency response personnel operating in environments where hazardous materials may be present and where sample collection is necessary.
Built around proven field workflows, the kit supports the collection of air, liquid and solid samples for chemical and biological analysis, with structured guidance intended to help maintain sample integrity from hot-zone preparation through to transfer to law enforcement.
Why teams choose IRK 2.0
- Multi-phase collection capability – supports air, liquid and solid sampling requirements in one field-ready solution.
- Process control for evidentiary sampling – designed around best-practice process methodology to help maintain sample integrity.
- Rugged, portable, watertight packaging – built for operational environments and field deployment.
- Disposable and replaceable components – sampling packages and individual components are designed to be replaceable for efficient resupply.
- Cleanliness and sterility controls – incorporates chemically cleaned components (to reduce cross-contamination risk) and sterile components (with manufacturer-designated sterility controls).
Designed for
- HAZMAT-trained technicians
- Medical and forensic evidence collection teams
- Decontamination teams
Clean, traceable sampling you can support
Reliable CBRNE sampling depends on clean and/or sterile tools—especially when sampling is conducted in high-hazard or non-permissive locations. The IRK 2.0 ecosystem uses:
- Chemically cleaned components that are cleaned and packaged to help preclude cross-contamination and are certified for non-interference against a defined range of analytes relevant to CBRNE response and EPA SW-846 semi-volatile methods.
- Sterile components with manufacturer-designated expiry/sterility conditions (for example, “sterile unless package integrity is compromised”).
How the kit is organised
The IRK 2.0 is organised so teams can select the appropriate sampling package for the task, with step-by-step guidance covering preparation, sampling, and transfer/hand-off. Core elements referenced for the IRK 2.0 include an Air Sampling Package, Liquid/Solid Sampling Package, Biological Sampling, and a Sample Custody Package, alongside modular pouches for liquid, solid, wipes, and biological sampling.
Resupply and replacement modules (commonly used)
For sustainment and repeat operations, modules and packages are available as individual line items. Examples include:
- Sample Custody Package (P/N 30002) – includes sample bags, chain-of-custody forms, tamper seals, ties/bands, instructions, and a replacement parts list.
- Liquid/Solid Sampling Package (P/N 30001) – includes sample containers and sterile tools (e.g., septa-lid bottles, glass jar, sterile forceps/spatula, sterile syringe, tamper seals, sterile bags and wipers), supporting liquid/solid collection tasks.
- Complete Liquid Module – Standard (P/N 10002-STD) – liquid sampling pouch and associated tools/consumables (e.g., sample jar assemblies, Mylar bags, needles, tubing weights, syringes, long pipettes, parafilm, Teflon tubing).
- Complete Solid Module FAC® – Standard (P/N 10007-STD) – solid sampling pouch and associated tools/consumables (e.g., sample jar assemblies, Mylar bags, sterile scalpels, scoops, spoons, parafilm).
- Complete Wipes Module – Standard (P/N 10015-STD) – wipes module pouch and consumables (e.g., sample jar assemblies, Mylar bags, alcohol wipes, haemostats, extension tools, parafilm).
- Complete Biological Module – Standard (P/N 10057-STD) – biological sampling pouch supporting multiple biological samples (e.g., PBS-containing vial assemblies, transfer pipettes, sterile gauze, swabs, spatulas, wipes, parafilm).
- Air Sampling Package (P/N 30003) – a dedicated air sampling package (available as a separate line item).
