BHD8 – Self-Contained Deflagration Sleeve and Stand
The BHD8, supplied by J3Seven, is a turnkey, self-contained deflagration system designed to neutralise landmines and other thin-cased unexploded ordnance without relying on a high-order detonation. The system uses focused thermite deflagration to burn through the casing and initiate a controlled burn of the explosive fill, helping to reduce fragmentation, blast and environmental impact when used under approved EOD procedures.
Each BHD8 unit combines a deflagration sleeve, initiator and disposable stand into a one-shot solution that can be quickly deployed by trained EOD operators to treat landmines and thin-walled munitions with steel up to approximately 4 mm thick.

Safer logistics classification: BHD8 is classified as a flammable solid (UN3178, Hazard Class 4.1, Packing Group III – Flammable Solid Inorganic N.O.S.) rather than an explosive, which can simplify handling, storage and transport compared with conventional donor charges.
Packaged for operations: Deflagration sleeves are individually sealed in metallised bags, and standard supply packs are delivered in disposable cartons containing both sleeves and stands, ready for issue to teams.
