Portable Voltage & Current Trainer

Voltage & Current Trainer (VIT)

The Voltage & Current Trainer (VIT) is a compact desktop trainer that allows operators to rehearse render‑safe procedures on multiple circuits without going near a live device. With eight individually monitored zones, smart sensing of normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) cables, and simple one‑button operation, VIT gives EOD, search and technical teams a safe way to practise taking voltage and current measurements on “live‑feeling” target cables.

Powered by a built‑in Li‑ion battery and housed in a rugged PA12 enclosure, VIT is designed to travel easily between classroom, range and exercise locations while providing clear visual and audible feedback on every action.

Key benefits

  • Train on eight separate zones: Simulates up to eight individual target wires so users can practise working multi‑line problems, not just single‑cable exercises.
  • Smart sense for NO/NC wires: Automatically detects whether each target cable is wired as normally open or normally closed, reinforcing correct diagnostic thinking.
  • Realistic voltage & current checks: Designed for repeated practice of voltage and current measurements against the supplied target cables, supporting modern wire diagnostic procedures.
  • Simple one‑button operation: An intuitive interface with a single control and OLED display keeps operation straightforward under training pressure.
  • Clear visual and audible feedback: The unit indicates changes in each zone with on‑screen, visual and audible outputs, so learners can immediately see the effect of their actions.
  • Discreet “distaff” mode: Instructors can use the discreet configuration‑view function to check how zones are set up without revealing the solution to students.
  • Fully portable: Built‑in Li‑ion battery, micro‑USB charging and around 14 hours of use per charge make VIT genuinely field and classroom ready.

Typical applications

  • Teaching voltage and current measurement techniques for wire diagnostics and render‑safe procedures.
  • Developing and testing SOPs for multi‑zone target systems in EOD, search and specialist technical units.
  • Refresher training for experienced technicians who need to maintain confidence with modern diagnostic tools.
  • Assessment and certification of students before moving on to Electronic Diagnostic Boxes or live‑environment exercises.

How the VIT is used

VIT is supplied with sets of normally open and normally closed target cables that plug into the eight training zones. Instructors configure each zone as required and students then connect their diagnostic tools to the cables, taking voltage and current measurements and interpreting the results. The VIT automatically detects the configuration of each zone and monitors for changes in state, providing immediate visual and audible feedback whenever conditions change. A discreet distaff function allows trainers to review the underlying setup without exposing it to learners.

What’s included

  • 1 × VIT unit.
  • 1 × protective VIT pouch.
  • 8 × normally open cables.
  • 8 × normally closed cables.

Additional target cables are available in bundles of 50 or 100, making it easy to scale training or replace heavily used leads.

Why choose the VIT

  • Purpose‑built for wire diagnostics: Specifically designed to maintain and improve electronic wire diagnostic procedures, not a generic electronics trainer.
  • Aligned with Trimax tooling: Ideal companion for diagnostic tools (such as DCM, RDT and DBAT) and your existing meters.
  • Supports structured training pathways: Fits naturally between basic classroom theory and more complex Electronic Diagnostic Boxes or live‑task training.
  • Local advice and support: J3Seven can assist with course design, SOP integration and through‑life support for your training fleet.
