Hot Drop Equipment/Kit
The Hot Drop Equipment/Kit, supplied by J3Seven, is a stand-off thermite deflagration system designed to neutralise “no touch” munitions by burning out their high explosive (HE) contents rather than detonating them. Using a controlled stream of molten iron directed onto the casing, the system melts a hole through the metal and initiates a low-order burn of the fill, reducing fragmentation, blast overpressure and environmental impact compared with high-order disposal.
The Hot Drop system is intended for use by trained Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and demilitarisation specialists who need a repeatable, low-order option for dealing with legacy, sensitive or environmentally constrained targets.

Stand-off “no touch” solution: Allows operators to set up a thermite burn at a stand-off distance from the target, avoiding mechanical cutting or direct contact with suspect ordnance.
Low-order neutralisation: Designed to burn out HE fillings rather than produce a high-order detonation, significantly reducing fragmentation, blast and acoustic signature when used correctly under SOP.
Up to 10 mm steel penetration: The molten iron stream generated by TD-A thermite can burn through steel casings up to about 10 mm thick, opening a path for controlled burn of the fill.
Reusable crucible and stand: The crucible is typically reusable for multiple cycles (often 4–5, subject to inspection and cleaning), and the stand is designed for repeated operational use.
Compatible with TD-A and TIS: Uses TD-A Thermit Destructor as the thermite charge and the TIS (Thermite Initiated Starter) as the recommended electric initiator, providing a fully integrated thermal EOD system.
Simplified logistics: TD-A and TIS are classified as UN 4.1 flammable solids; other components are not classified as dangerous goods, which can simplify transport and storage compared with conventional explosives.
