Level A & Level B HazMat Suit

Zytron® 500 (Z500)

For ultra-demanding HazMat response and high-risk chemical operations, Kappler Zytron® 500 (Z500) is built for mobility while delivering top-tier chemical holdout. Kappler states Z500 is based on patented technology that created the first material to survive eight full hours against the ASTM F1001 Test Battery with no breakthrough, and it now has an extensive chemicals-tested list numbering in the hundreds.

Z500 garments are commonly selected for Level A (gas-tight) and Level B applications, with a wide range of coveralls, splash suits and total encapsulating suit configurations available. High-visibility orange is standard, with charcoal grey also available (style dependent).

Why Teams Choose Zytron® 500

  • Level A gas-tight and Level B configurations – available in front or rear entry, plus coveralls and splash suit styles (configuration dependent).
  • Responder-focused mobility – ergonomic design with roomy sleeves to support movement and task work.
  • AntiFog Expanded-View visor system – standard on gas-tight suits, including NFPA-certified styles (configuration dependent).
  • 2N1® glove system – included on HazMat styles to help eliminate inner glove inversion.
  • QR-enabled chemical data – Kappler labels (SMART™/ChemScan™) link to chemical test data and suit details via a quick scan.

  • Tear resistance: 120 N (MD) / 67 N (CD)
  • Ball burst: 351 N

Important Use Notes

  • Not for firefighting. These garments are designed for protection against short-duration thermal exposures only. Avoid open flame or intense heat.
  • Anti-fog treatment (visor): some vapour protective totally encapsulated garments have a permanently attached layer inside the PVC visor to reduce fogging; it is permanent and not designed to be replenished or replaced.
