Remote Unmanned Ground Vehicle

RANG‑R (Remote Autonomous Next Generation – Rover)

RANG‑R is a multi‑role unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) designed to reduce risk and workload for front‑line teams operating in complex and hazardous environments. Built around Aardvark’s core design principles of operator safety and platform survivability, RANG‑R moves essential equipment forward, sustains tempo on task, and removes the operator from the threat through stand‑off robotic control.

Developed in collaboration with forward operators and military experts, RANG‑R addresses a common operational challenge: extended operations away from base locations often force teams to carry higher levels of supplies and equipment, increasing fatigue and exposing personnel to resupply threats. RANG‑R provides protected, remote logistics support while also being configurable for counter‑explosive ordnance (C‑EO), counter‑IED and combat engineer roles.

Key benefits

  • High‑capacity autonomous logistics: Maximum payload of 3,850kg (up to two standard NATO pallets) with a stated operational range of 100km.
  • Remote loading and resupply: Integral crane can be controlled via a hand‑held controller to load, move and unload supplies without additional resource deployment.
  • Operator stand‑off from explosive threats: Designed to conduct resupply, mine clearance and C‑IED roles while the operator remains in a safe environment.
  • Survivable platform design: Designed with blast survivability in mind, with the platform stated as capable of surviving a blast from up to 8.8kg of explosive.
  • Low signature operations: Low noise signature (generator stated < 32 dB at 5 m) and a low thermal signature via a cooled exhaust system.
  • Exportable mission power: > 25 kW exportable power with 28 V DC (Land Class A) to help keep communications and mission equipment operational.
  • Silent capability: Stated 1 km silent manoeuvre and 8 hour silent watch (extendable to 24 hours), supporting discreet surveillance and overwatch tasks.
  • Designed for maintainability: Intended for field maintenance to improve availability and reduce life‑cycle cost in remote deployments.

Multi‑role capability

RANG‑R is designed as a flexible platform that can be configured to support multiple mission sets:

  • Forward logistics support: Protected transport of supplies to forward locations to sustain dismounted troops and reduce the burden of re‑supply.
  • Mine protection and clearance: Shares common technologies with Aardvark’s GEN2 autonomous mine‑clearing capability, enabling mine protection and clearance tasking where required.
  • C‑EO / C‑IED and combat engineer support: Integral robotic manipulator arm enables “mark and avoid” mobility enhancement, route‑clearance support and mechanical assistance to combat engineer tasks.
  • Remote tool deployment: Manipulator arm can deploy C‑EO / C‑IED tools with sight control supported by a boom‑mounted heavy‑duty camera.
  • “Silent sentry” monitoring: Can be configured to lay a digital perimeter and integrate with UAV‑mounted surveillance technologies and ground resources for border monitoring and persistent observation.
