CBRN Contaminated Human Remains Pouch

ISOVAC CBAG™ Model 2005CB-PUR (Human Remains Retrieval System – HRRS)

Contain, isolate and move contaminated remains with confidence. The ISOVAC CBAG™ is a flexible, three-dimensional, man-portable Human Remains Retrieval System (HRRS) designed to prevent cross-contamination of personnel, equipment, facilities and transport assets when handling contaminated human (or animal) remains.

Its patented two-stage barrier technology is designed to provide containment of chemical agents as well as biological and radiological particulates (CBR), enabling controlled movement, temporary isolation, and burial workflows in high-consequence environments.

Why teams choose CBAG™

  • Two-stage CBR containment: designed to contain chemical agents plus biological and radiological particulates (CBR) to prevent cross-contamination during handling and transport.
  • Indefinite particulate containment design intent: 100% gas and liquid-tight construction with a CBRN (HE/P-100) filtered vent port.
  • Over-pressure relief for transport safety: Iso-Vent™ technology automatically relieves internal pressure buildup from decomposition gases or rapid aircraft cabin decompression, filtering exhausted gases through an internal CBRN filter canister (HE/P-100).
  • Fluid control system: proprietary FCS is designed to absorb more than 15 litres of decomposition and purge fluids to reduce “sloshing”, stabilise contents, and minimise the risk of vent filter clogging.
  • High capacity with minimal footprint: 3D shape maximises volume; flexible maximum circumference 1.73 m and length 206 cm, with a 182 kg load rating (designed to accommodate the 99th percentile adult male).
  • Fast, practical loading: suitcase-style opening provides unrestricted access to a tub-like interior for ease of loading.
  • Durability engineered for field use: Iso-Shell™ outer barrier material is specified as providing a minimum ten-fold improvement in abrasion, puncture and tear resistance vs PVC-based materials of the same thickness.
  • Redundant sealing technologies: Iso-Weld™ seam fusion creates a redundant gas- and liquid-tight seam, and the primary zipper technology is described as based on NASA spacesuit zipper technology and pressure-tested.
  • Designed for decontamination efficiency: smooth, non-absorbent external surface with minimal pockets/crevices; described as unaffected by common decontamination solutions/systems even after multiple applications.
  • Secure closure control: oversized locking strap helps secure the zipper closed and sealed, reducing the risk of unintentional opening or tampering.

Typical use cases

  • Stand-alone transport: hand carry and transport within land vehicles, ships, and aircraft.
  • Temporary storage & isolation: hold contaminated remains awaiting decontamination or interment.
  • Temporary direct burial: pending permanent interment.
  • Transport within a case/casket: isolate and transport within a CHRT (Contaminated Human Remains Transport case) or a conventional casket.
  • Permanent burial: within a conventional casket or CHRT.
  • Animal remains: temporary storage and isolation pending disposition.
  • Equipment protection: protect uncontaminated equipment when moving through a contaminated zone.

Frequently asked questions

What is CBAG™ used for?

CBAG™ is designed for transport, temporary storage/isolation, and burial workflows involving contaminated human remains (and, in some cases, contaminated animal remains), with the goal of preventing cross-contamination of personnel, facilities and transport assets.

How does CBAG™ manage internal pressure?

CBAG™ uses Iso-Vent™ over-pressure relief to automatically relieve internal pressure from decomposition gases or rapid aircraft cabin decompression, filtering exhausted gases via an internal CBRN (HE/P-100) filter canister.

How much fluid can it retain?

An internal fluid control system capable of absorbing more than 15 litres of decomposition and purge fluids, helping reduce fluid movement and minimise risk of vent filter clogging.

Is the pouch designed to be decontaminated?

Yes. The outer shell is described as smooth and non-absorbent, designed to reduce entrapment and improve decontamination efficiency, and stated to be unaffected by common decontamination solutions/systems even after multiple applications.

What decontamination solutions are listed as compatible?

Manufacturer-listed solutions include 5% hypochlorite, 10% calcium hypochlorite, M295, M100 (SDS), RSDL, and soap and hot water.

What size remains can it accommodate?

CBAG™ is specified with a 1.73 m maximum circumference, 206 cm length, and a 182 kg load rating, designed to accommodate up to the 99th percentile adult male.
